The Fight Against Acne

Acne is a common and quite misunderstood skin problem. We have all had a pimple or pimples (white-head, blackheads or even blind pimples) at one time or another and probably at the most inconvenient times like when you have a hot date. Having pimples once in awhile helps you understand the anguish that acne sufferers go through most of the time.

If you are one of those unfortunate sufferers you are not alone and no matter our despondent you feel it is not the end of the world. There are many medicines and treatments out there that are very effective but bear in mind that what may work for some people may not work for you. Everyone is different and if I can give you a bit of advice about seeking a remedy... expensive does not always mean more effective. Start with natural and simple ways to remedy your acne.

Here are a few tips to start you on the cost effective road to self help.

Drink lots of water. Water hydrates the body and washes away toxins which clog pores helping to cleanse your body while revitalizing your skin.Eat right. Eating properly (drop fatty and oily foods out your diet) and sticking to a good amount of fruit as well as vegetables daily helps maintain good health which your skin will thank you for. The anti-oxidants present in these foods as well as vitamins A, B and D contribute in assisting good skin maintenance. Increasing your beta-carotene and zinc will not only prevent acne but aid in the restorative process with anti-scarring.Be skin product conscious. Some products promise you the earth, moon and stars but most times you may not be aware of how sensitive your skin might be to that particular product. So be careful what you put on your face.Manage stress. Hormonal imbalances play a huge part in acne because the body over produces certain hormones which react negatively causing breakouts. Cortisol is the hormone that is released to counteract the imbalances caused by stress which can be produced by controlling your stress levels.Reduce caffeine. Caffeine aggravates problem skin because it dehydrates your body and clogs pores. So lay off the coffee and chocolates (the sacrifices we make for beauty is so unfair at times.)Keep clean. Do not sleep with make-up on. Keep your hair clean or off your face (hair contains oils that aggravate breakouts.) Keep bedding and towels clean too.Do not pick at your face all day. Who knows what germs you are transferring to your face each time you touch it and pick at your pimples with your dirty fingernails?

In a world were appearances are important it is only natural that you feel pressured into obsessing about how you look. Confidence is essential to us all and this confidence is built on how you look and feel. That is why if you want results whether you want acne free skin or a toned body... you have to put in the work diligently and with determination. That is the key to beauty... making the effort.
