The right diet may not be the only solution for improving your acne but it can help to reduce the inflammation especially if it is triggered by an allergic response to certain foods. As well medications won't cure acne either simply because this does not fix the underlining cause. When you deal with external symptoms all you do give the drug companies more money and don't address the real reasons for the problem.
There were a couple of studies done in in the late 1960's and early 1970's that concluded that acne is an incurable genetic disorder. These studies were done to show the connection between diet and acne and found that since it is a genetic disease the only way to deal with the problem is to tackle the symptoms. And how do you tackle the symptoms? With creams, antibiotics, prescription drugs and over the counter products!
Not surprisingly other clinical trials and in depth research has proven that these studies were flawed and that the researchers came to the wrong conclusion. In recent years, studies have found a connection between what we eat and acne. In fact, it now appears that eating the wrong foods is one of the leading causes of acne. What we eat can negatively affect our hormones and the process of toxic elimination which of course aggravates the problem.
Sugar may not have any nutritional value, but what it does have is the ability to aggravate acne. When consumed in the form of refined carbohydrates, it rapidly spikes blood sugar levels. In order for your body to deal with this, it releases a surge of insulin as well as male hormones and something called IGF-1. This overwhelms the liver and hormones encourage your skin to excrete large amounts of oil which then helps bacteria to grow on the skin which results in acne!
Another food that helps the formation of acne is milk. Not just milk but all dairy products in fact. This food is mucus forming and the most allergenic food for a lot of people. Unfortunately for every sip of milk you take, you are ingesting over fifty-nine different hormones, saturated animal fat, steroid hormones, dead white blood cells and cow pus! A little gross right!
All though acne is a complex condition it isn't triggered by just one factor. You will only solve your problem when you are able to overcome all the acne contributing factors. Diet is only one of those factors. But it is a large factor. Try avoiding the wrong foods such as milk, sugar, hydrogenated oil and eat lots of green leafy vegetables, essential fatty acids and unprocessed foods. Your skin will thank you for it!
